Development of this design began after we noticed that the designs of face shields we found online, either took too long to print, or weren’t reusable. This design allows for quicker prints and can partly be reused by detaching the front plastic and putting the headband in the washing machine. The process involves printing a pair of clips, sewing the clips into an elastic headband, and attaching the front plastic to the headband. This page serves as documentation for anyone else wanting to make face shields using this method.
This design has been tested for comfort by a group of 13 doctors and is awaiting certification from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services — National Institutes of Health (NIH).
